Diversity Initiative
Judicial Clerk Review is committed to increasing the number of qualified applicants for judicial clerkships, internships, and externships.
The need for more minority lawyers in the judiciary and academia, and among corporate counsel and law firm partners is well-recognized, and one critical step in the path to each of these is a judicial clerkship. The legal profession has begun to recognize and appreciate the need for diversity within its ranks. For instance, stories have been told and retold of law firms reacting to corporate clients who insist that law firms hire and retain minority attorneys in greater numbers. Similarly, many legal organizations and affiliates have spearheaded efforts to increase diversity within all areas of the legal community, including judicial clerkships.
As part of its Diversity Initiative, JCR will continue its outreach effort to (1) educate minority law students and college students about the importance of judicial clerkships, (2) inform minority law students about the judicial clerkship application process, and (3) encourage minority law students to consider judicial clerkships once they have graduated from law school.
